I wouldn't change TREC for the world. I chose this dream as my main for a reason. The atmosphere is so amazingly peaceful, quiet, and sophisticated as WELL as playful. I'm constantly around great roleplayers, great friends, and great ideas. The shows are amazing, fun, and realistic. The people are caring, great listeners, and LITERATE. This has to be one of the FEW domestic equine dreams in Furcadia--if not equine in general--that has ALL of this mixed in one. It's the perfect place to be, in my opinion, and that is why I'm here.
Now, I CONSTANTLY hear people saying the dream is beautiful, realistic, fun, with great, intelligent staff who know what they're roleplaying and helpful, horse-knowledged visitors. I ALWAYS see people who pop in, take a look, and say, "Hey, I really like this place". It's not even new for me to see boarding applications and many visitors claiming TREC to be their new home. But that would be their last visit.
Why? What IS it about this dream that drives people away? Am I blind? Am I missing something? Is there a gas leak in this little dream home? WHY?
I don't want everyone flocking here. I don't need to see 40 people in the dream each day to be satisfied. I'm just fine with even three. But it's not the number of regulars that's greatly annoying me. It's the number of visitors, period. I love this dream, have the pleasure of working here on two alts, as well as boarding here on a lot more, and can't seem to understand why the shows and races are so empty.
TCS, CD, IFS, every other dream out there tends to get plenty of entries. From ALL around. I see TREC regulars applying for shows and races ALL THE TIME. So why do TREC shows go unnoticed?
What stirred this random rant, you might ask? Simple. Everytime a person claims they're in a dilemna with their alt, lately, they explain to me that they need an owner and ask everyone around. These are people I usually know, who I've seen in almost every auction they could be online for. I mentioned TREC's up and coming Memorial Day Auction, explain it, and... nothing. Suddenly, they don't want to go to an auction in fear of being bought by a twink who's either never on, can't roleplay, or doesn't know how to show.
What do you THINK this auction is meant for? That's at least ONE of the reasons it was put up. Either people are too IGNORANT to actually fucking READ things, or people have a serious beef with TREC that they don't have the goddamn balls to bring to light.
Now, I don't mean this concerning EVERYONE outside of TREC. There are a few people I GREATLY respect for trying to participate in events with this dream, just as we do their own. Kisco, Embrace It, Senderra, etc, are all people who've made me feel a bit of hope in the way of TREC events. I thought, with them coming, some of their friends and dream-goers may enter every once in a while. But perhaps I'm too hopeful. And, I noticed, it only seems to be other dream owners, and the ocassional--OCASSIONAL--resident of another dream.
In almost every domestic equine dream I've ever been in, even if there are little to no regulars there, people FLOCK the shows. Every so often one show may go unnoticed, whether by lack of popularity in breed, event, school, or a lot of people have something else planned that day. But what's the big deal? Why is everyone suddenly available for everything EXCEPT TREC? When I asked that question to a few friends who hang out in other dreams, they claim school is too hectic and they don't have the time. Yet, they have time enough to join every other show advertised on Furcadia.
Overall, what I don't get is this: why not give TREC a CHANCE anymore?
Even if you offered it a chance before, and for some reason that failed to work, people DO change. Come, sit with us in the OOC, chat with us, see what kind of people we really are instead of listening to rumors you assume true. I'm not saying you'll like everyone, and I'm not saying everyone will like you. But that's life. That happens everywhere. NOT JUST TREC.
Now, with a headache and finals to study for, as well as a shitload to do this weekend, I'm off.
Thank you for you time, and I apologize if it seemed like I was singling anyone out. I also apologize for the length--thankfully, I proofread and editted! x)
Wynd--I understand if you get angry at me for posting this. It's not my dream, nor is it my business, but I just can't help but get frustrated. You've worked this hard, with a dream that used to be one of the most popular equine dreams on Furcadia, for this? Again, I love the peace and the tight-knit group, but the dwindling numbers in worthy shows is what seriously irritates me.
If you'd like, feel free to either lock or delete this topic. I just needed to let off some steam to people who I know and trust will listen.
