The barn was a place that she seldom went, for she was often taunted by seeing all the horses in their stalls but not able to touch them. Kirstina, the siamese furre, had wandered into it idly and now walked up and down the aisle, peering into each and every stall. She glanced at the clip boards, searching for Jenna's name, trying to identify which equines were her's. Jenna Draciel was a panther furre that Kirst had met the day before. Secretely, Kirstina was hoping to run into Jenna once again, and maybe even the stable owner, Haleigh.
A silent world she lived in had new doors opened up because of her new friend, who had offered to try to get her a horse. But, she still did not have the appropriate attire. The feminine wore a miniskirt, and no shoes - but that didn't matter now. All Kirstina cared about was seeing Jenna again; seeing the only person who truly tried to communicate and carry on a conversation with her, again.

God, what a boring day.
It was uneventful again. Funny, Jenna Draciel thought, that the week before the Breeders Cup not a single horse around got anything but vaccinated. Leaning on a fence of an outside paddock, the panther was in her usual work clothes. A white coat with a pocket and a name tag, as well as formal black shoes. A hand came to play with her short hair, which was pulled elegantly back into a short ponytail. Sighing loudly, she pushed herself off the fence and walked towards the barn.
If there was anything Jenna loved more than solitude, it was solitude with horses. Being there, by those animals, always soothed her, even on her most stressful days. She could cry, scream, or be hyper, and never feel the need to hide it from them. She snorted. Obviously, they were therapuetic. When she broke from her reverie, all Jenna noticed was that she was in Haleigh and Sasha's racehorse born, but not a horse, that she could see, was there.
They must all be outside.. Exhaling, she leaned her back against the nearest stall door and slid down, hands over her knees and staring blankly at the stall opposite her.
((OOC// Sorry, I know it's long. :/ ))

Kirstina had wandered toward the racing born. As soon as she entered the room, she set her gaze upon Jenna. A smile instantly came over her rims as she allowed her limbs to carry her physique toward Jenna. Once arriving to the panther, she would watch her carefully before attempting to sign to her. 'Can I sit with you?'
Her gaze from china blue visionaries rested patiently on the other feminine. Awaiting an answer, of course, but already enjoying the presence of the other feminine furre. They had already built a strong friendship, even though they had only met the day before.

Jenna's ear twitched atop her head, swiveling towards the side where Kirstina had been walking towards her. Almost immediately, she looked over, startled, before a smile replaced her shocked frown. Her mouth opened, as if to greet the white furre, but when Kirst signed her, she remembered and felt embarassed.
'Of course', she signaled back, grinning. The panther found it awkward, actually. If, with any other person, the lack of verbal communication would more than likely just annoy her, but with Kirst, it was almost like a silent conversation. As if speaking with thoughts. All memories on ASL from highschool seemed to rush straight to her head in the presence of the other, and while she was still shaky with the different language, she was better with it than she ever could be in school.
"Per fortune.." she breathed to herself, head turned to face straight and uncaring if Kirst saw her mouth movement.

Kirstina offered the hearing feminine an understanding smile. 'I care not if you use voice. I lip-read.' It was true, Kirstina had learned to nearly perfectly read lips. Just another perk to being from the Deaf community. Afterwards, she took a seat upon the ground next to the female, making sure that her undergarments wouldn't be shown - that took a little shifting around. But, finally, she managed to find a comfortable position.
'How you,' signed the deaf siamese to the panther, a smile still gracing her rims as she briefly peered into the golden tainted visionaries of her new friend.

Jenna felt a great weight suddenly lift from her shoulders. She could speak? Kirstina wouldn't take it offensively, or not understand? She smiled warmly, staring straight at the siamese furre.
"Grazie tu." Jenna knew there was a chance she probably didn't lip-read Italian, but the panther didn't care. Besides, those with normal hearing didn't even understand her half the time.
"I'm fine. Bored, but fine." She laughed shortly, eyes twinkling in mirth. Well, her day was beginning to look up. "How 'bout you?"

Kirstina didn't read Italian, but she did assume it meant "thank you". With a gentle smile upon her lips, she continued to read what the female spoke. With a nod, she simpl signed, 'Fine. I happy you fine.' Her gaze flickered over the panther's stature briefly before returning to the facial area, to await more words to be spoken. A yawn crossed her maw as she awaited more of the conversation to begin. They had a long conversation the day before, that had taken up most of the afternoon. It felt wonderful to find another feline biped that understood her, and could communicate as well.
(Sorry, tired. You know I usually make longer posts.)

Jenna exhaled slowly, letting her head fall against the stall door again with a light "thud". Out of boredom, and some thought, she stared at the opposite wall again, gaze unfocussed.
"Do you have any family?" She barely knew she spoke it until it was said, but did not act as if it were a mistake. From the corner of her eye, she watched the white female and waited for a responsive signing.
(Yeah, same here. Homework, and such. Sorry I got to this so late. :> )

Haleigh strolled into the barn, pushing a massive wheelbarrow. She had just bought bigger ones for the farm, since it meant less trips to the muck heap. The handle of a pitchfork peeked out from under her arm, where she held it steady as it got a free ride. Her black hair had been pulled back into a messy ponytail, and she was in her usual grungy work attire. "Gooood afternoon," She called cheerily to the two felines, unaware of their conversation. Leigh stopped at a stall near them, sliding the heavy wooden door aside. However, she refrained from entering, showing distinct interest in the pallid furre. "Who's your new friend here, Jenna?" She shot Kirstina a friendly smile.

Watching the panther, she picked up the movements of the lips as the words were spoken off, even though the alabaster furred being only heard silence. 'My family died in fire when I sixteen,' signed the silent one. 'I finish school, but have no money now. I got letter from neighbor, informing me my family dead.' As she had finished her signs, a figure was caught in her line of sight coming towards them.
A smile remained upon the feline's rims as she turned her head to look toward the other hearing creature. A nod of a greeting was given off as she read the lips carefully. Her gaze would be shot back to Jenna, awaiting to see how she would react. This was the first time Jenna and Kirstina had ever encountered someone else in their conversation -- then again, it was only their second day of friendship.

There was no such thing as pity in her dictionary.
No, there was only sympathy. Jenna did not speak further, as she was interrupted by the noisy wheels of a wheelbarrow, and the cheery voice of her boss. Feeling the atmosphere lift, the panther smiled towards Haleigh.
"Kirstina." It seemed almost rude, but Jenna bluntly continued. "She's deaf." The furre never meant to be cruel or harsh, rather, such bluntness was merely in her character. She wasn't one who would ignore a problem, or go to all means possible to avoid hurting someone's feelings. Growing up around all males taught her to suck it up and get over it, and the black-furred vet had a hard time understanding how others could dwell on such trivial issues.

Leigh raised a thin eyebrow. "I see," She nodded slowly, obviously a bit apprehensive. "Uh, I'm afraid I don't know any sign language," Reaching forward, she took the pitchfork from the wheelbarrow slowly, her emerald eyes still focused on Kirstina. "But it's nice to meet you nonetheless." She was vaguely aware of the concept of lip-reading, but wasn't too sure how prevalent it was -- Haleigh knew no other deaf folks; it was rare in furres. Awkwardly, she stood there, pitchfork in gloved paw, not quite sure what to say -- a rare moment for an outspoken girl.

A smile remained upon the china-blue eyed female's rims. Her eyes gently read the two's conversations carefully. A nod was repeated before she began signing, hoping Jenna would get the impression to interpret. 'Thank you. Nice to-meet-you.' Her audits idly twitched atop her cranium as she would await to see what happened next.
Idly, her thoughts wandered onto the chores of the barn, such as what the new female was doing - cleaning stalls and that such. Kirstina had yet to learn the name of this new person, and secretly hoped that she would soon know with the assistance of Jenna.

Jenna felt herself unconsciously smirk, glancing at her boss with mirth twinkling in her golden eyes.
"Don't worry, signora Sharphowl." She glanced over at Kirst, already beginning to slowly translate her speedy signing. "I have basic knowledge on ASL from highscool. I can try and translate. Plus, she reads lips real well." Though I don't garauntee a whole lot. She nodded in Kirst's direction after she fully understood what the white furre was saying, and turned back to Haleigh.
"She says nice to meet you." The panther noticed idly that her fingers were linking together, held loosely around her tightly folded knees as she looked up towards the huskie. It was probably best not to act this way in front of one's own boss, but work was slow today, anyway.

Haleigh nodded her head once, seeming to snap back to life. The anxious expression left her face, and she replaced it with a small smile. Entering the stall, she began to sift through the bedding with the fork, much like cleaning out a giant litter box. Any 'presents' she found would be shoveled into the wheelbarrow, where they'd land with a muffled thud. She was totally oblivious to any "wrongdoing" of Jenna's; she'd rather her staff calm and relaxed than uptight and dressed up, anyway.
"So, what does she know about horses?" Leigh's deep voice boomed out of the enclosure, and she obviously was depending on the panther to translate for Kirstina. The gentle scraping noises of the pitchfork against the rubber matting became rhythmic as she worked her way from one end of the stall to the other.
