I think we need to establish some guidelines for racing for horses in the program. It has been a headache, to put it lightly, to keep track of racing results for you guys! You aren't co-operating with us here.
Therefore, each horse will be on a "three strikes and you're out" program for racing. If you don't post results in a timely manner, it's a strike. If you 'forget' about a race, it's a strike. (If you lie about the races you have participated in, you are OUT. Period.) It is important to mention that the same procedure goes for shows.
-Horses will race no more frequently than once a week. IRL horses only race once, maybe twice a month. We speed most things up on Furcadia, like gestation periods, so we're speeding this up too. So pick one race every seven days, and make it a good one.
-For races that are "pre-meditated", meaning, they are announced well in advance and sign-ups are available, you need to reply to your thread on the TREC forums and tell us the name of the race, where it is held, and who is riding you (if jockies are required). This should be done within 24 hours of signing up for the race. (If you had time to get your entry form in, you have time to let us know you entered. Period.)
-After a race is held, regardless of your placement in the race, you must reply to your thread and tell us the name of the race, where it was held, who rode you (if you had a jockey), what placement you were (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or did not place) and how much money you won (if cash prizes were allotted). This should be done within 72 hours of the race's completion; the sooner, the better.
-We have final say over your races. We will pick the age you start racing at: most of our horses start at 2, but not all. We usually start younger horses off slowly, with maybe one or two races a month. We may only want you on certain tracks or may want you to hold off for a couple of weeks to build suspense for a bigger race. This is why it's important for you to keep in contact with us. If you have been inactive for a couple of weeks, for whatever the reason may be, do NOT race without talking to us first. (What if we had you entered in a big, highly contested race in four days and you entered a daily race at CD? We wouldn't be happy!)
Just for the record, this is the only way we are going to be able to keep the program's integrity. Accurate records are a huge part of this. If we cannot keep records, what are we? Simply a mis-mash of Thoroughbreds, that's all. Proper records will increase your value, meaning more stud fees, higher sale prices for foals, and more racing opportunities. Please cooperate with us on this!
