I am asked on a weekly basis to purchase different horses. Obviously, I cannot take on more than a few at the time, and thus I must be very strict about what I allow and don't allow, in regards to OOC and IC behavior of my horses.
Out of Character Requirements
-You must be a nice person! I don't want you around me or my friends if you're snarky, complain a lot, think you're better than everyone else, or lie. It creates drama and upsets people. This is a no brainer.
-You must be on Furcadia with some form of consistency. I don't mind only seeing you a couple of times a week, but horses that are consistently inactive will have to be dropped.
-You need to have a firm grasp on the concept that what Wynd says goes. Having an owner means you now have someone who manages a LOT of your in-character actions. This especially has to do with breeding. You will be kept AWAY from intact horses of the opposite sex unless we are breeding you. You will have a stall and a designated turn-out area and that's where the majority of your roleplay will take place, except for when you are being ridden. You do retain some OOC say, but horses that try to control every action will be sold from the program.
-If you have a problem with the way you're being managed, please bring it up politely, in private to Wynd at an appropriate time so that we can work things out together.
In-Character Requirements
-You must be one of the following breeds: Hanoverian, Thoroughbred, Dutch Warmblood, American Warmblood, Swedish Warmblood, or Trakehner. Exceptions are ONLY MADE for some of the other Warmblood breeds (i.e. Polish Warmblood, or Swiss Warmblood, or Oldenburg), but even then, only rarely.
-I will probably only have one stallion from each breed, and a small handful of mares (1-3). Again, exceptions may be made for a remarkable animal OR for an animal I may intend to sell later on down the line.
-Stallions are generally "campaigned" more. This means I focus on them for showing because they bring in the revenue (stud fees!). That certainly does not mean the mares will not be shown, just that stallions get priority.
-I will not accept a stallion that cannot or will not show. You must be OOC and IC willing to show. (If you are not trained to a showing level, but your personality allows for it and you're up for it OOC, that's fine, and you can be trained to show.)
-For the most part, I am looking for older horses. Stallions MUST be at least 5 -- I will be busy training the foals I breed myself. Mares must be at least 3 and have some ground manners.
-For mares, I am generally looking for either horses that like to show occasionally, or "retired" mares just used for light riding and mostly breeding. Because IC Wynd focuses a lot on her stallions, mares do get less "Wynd time" and will depend on other mares and barn staff (grooms, trainers, etc.) for most of their RP.
-All horses in Tanglewood are trained for English disciplines. Western background is certainly okay and will no means be held against you, but you will -not- be shown Western.
-The program's focus is on eventing horses. Experience in eventing is a -huge huge huge- bonus if you want to be part of the program.
In-Character "Perks" of Being Part of the Program
-A lot of love from Wynd!
-An opportunity to train and show with an experienced handler who will help you be the best you can be.
-The chance to be part of something and be in a real "community"; and participate in realistic roleplay with a purpose.
-Access to and a personal stall at Tanglewood Stables, Wynd's exclusive home dream that is closed to the general public.
-Access to "shared stalls" at TREC; stalls designated for any Tanglewood horses to use.
Guidelines for Evaluation
The best way to be evaluated is to put a post in the Classified Ads about your character. I read every single post in that board, regardless of breed or age. If I like you, I will contact you -- and if I'm not interested, it's a great way to find someone who is!
