This is the ultimate rider-horse combined event on the flat. Through their descriptions and physical maneuvering, the two maneuver a short course and show how well they can present themselves.
25% of the total score is the rider's presentation (description). The character should be clean and neat, in proper attire, and confident. 25% of the total score is the equine's presentation (description). The character should be well groomed, in proper tack, and in good condition. *Keep in mind that the conformation of the animal is not being considered here; rather, the way he or she is presented. **It should be noted that use of 'fancy' words should NOT be the focus of the judging, nor should the 'no-detail-left-unnoticed-to-the-point-of-cluttering' route be taken. The descriptions should read like a paragraph from a book, and should not go into too much detail on any one thing. The style of writing in each description should compliment the other's. 50% of the total score is the team's ability to follow the short course which includes leading, turning in either direction, backing up, and stopping.
RIDING DS USAGE: Riding DS is NOT used in Showmanship because it is a class on the flat.
