Discussion began today on the SHS 2007. Here's the dates and events chosen. These are pretty much confirmed and probably will not change (unless I have an agility trial or something).
SHS: English
June 10th: Hunter In Hand
June 11th: Hunter Over Fences
June 12th: English Pleasure
June 13th: Hunt Seat Equitation
June 14th: Cross Country
June 15th: Dressage
June 16th: Stadium Jumping
----
SHS: Western
June 24th: Halter
June 25th: Pole Bending
June 26th: Trail
June 27th: Western Equitation
June 28th: Barrel Racing
June 29th: Western Pleasure
June 30th: Reining
------
The English class judge is TBA. The Western class judge is Kalmia. Class times will probably not be posted until the first of June or so. They will be in the evening.
There are NO prep shows for the SHS, as always. However you MUST compete in halter/hunter in hand to be eligible for any of the other events.
You do NOT have to show all seven days! The only day you must show is for hunter in hand/halter. So don't worry about a conflict!
First through fourth place will be awarded in each class. First place class winners will recieve a cookie for their efforts and all places recieve a low-grade cash prize. Horses accumulate points in the following manner:
1st: 5pts ($1,000)
2nd: 4pts ($750)
3rd: 3pts ($500)
4th: 2pts ($250)
The horse with the most points at the end of seven days of competition will be crowned Grand Champion ($50,000). The runner-up will be crowned Reserve Champion ($20,000). Roses will definately be awarded to both winners, and other prizes may be donated between now and then.
We are adopting a "player-character" rule similar to the one used for the Jumping Extravaganzas. EACH LIVING, BREATHING HUMAN BEING SITTING AT A COMPUTER PLAYING FURCADIA may play:
-1 rider each week (1 English rider and 1 Western rider)
-2 horses each week (2 English horses and 2 Western horses)
In addition, each rider may only enter up to TWO horses (the halter/hunter-in-hand classes will be split to accomodate this; but only one set of placements will be awarded). They may also list a third horse as a reserve if one of their two horses scratches or is a no-show for whatever reason.
Horses/riders do not need to be entered both weeks. Its unrealistic to expect a horse to be at a highly competitive level in all of those Western classes and all of those English classes.
Believe it or not, if you're new to showing, the SHS might be good for you! You don't have to enter all classes and you can get a taste for serious competition. It's totally fine to enter the English week, and say, only compete in Hunter in Hand and Dressage. Not everyone is necessarily aiming for Grand Champion!
Questions about the SHS may be asked as replies here.
