Hey all! I have a few questions (they're rather simple, really). I am confused on what you are supposed to do once in the show ring. For instance, why can't you show your own horse? I mean .. it is a horse show, correct? Also, for what events do you need to post? And, if you are posting, what is the average length and does it have to be quick so that you aren't the only one sitting there without a post? For the speed events, racing, jumping, etc. are you allowed to just complete the course without writing a post? Sorry to have thrown all those questions out, but I never shown here before.

Because for the posting events it makes it harder to do and also it's not fair to be riding your own alt.
Events that you need to post on are halter, hunter-in-hand, and some others I'm probably forgetting (check on the forum category 'how events work' and they're under english and western. Western's still under construction I think).
Timed events I believe the only one you have to write a post for is hunter-over-fences (or one of those, once again it's under the category 'how events' work).

Alrighty, thanks for the help! I have read the How Events Work before I posted this, but I will check back to refresh. Thanks again! (you can probably just delete this thread) =]

Nah, I'll leave it up just in case someone else has the same questions.
And no problem at all, I believe most of them do say if posting is required or not. ^^' But I can still answer the questions if they come up considering I compete in a lot of those on other characters.

Lol, sounds good.
One more question - and I'm sure it'll be the last regarding posting during shows. xP So, I see that both horse /and/ rider need to post when in the ring. So does that mean that the rider explains to the horse what her movements are, and the horse has to then move off of what the rider posts? And then based off the horse's actions, the rider then makes another post with moves, etc.?

Basically, yeah. The rider posts with what aids she's using (leg pressure, squeezing the reins, taking a deep breath, where she's looking, etc.) and the horse responds to that. The rider then responds to the horse's response, i.e. using less or more pressure, trying something else if her mount didn't listen, etc. Then the horse posts to respond to those commands.
