[shadow=black,left,700]Northern Dancer[/shadow]
That is correct, now at the age of 25 years old, Northern Dancer will be retiring from stud for good! He has sired many good foals, who have gone on to produce many other champions.
It has become apparent to his handlers that Northern Dancer's age is catching up with him, so they came to a decision that this will be his last year for breeding. The cost will be reasonably high and there will only be SEVEN open slots. Grouping discounts are NOT available.
Quick Info:
Northern Dancer is a 16.1 hands high bay Thoroughbred stallion by Nearctic and out of Natalma, who is by the great Native Dancer. Northern Dancer began racing under jockey Ron Turcotte, the jockey of the great Secretariat, bringing in his first victory as a two year old at the Fort Erie track. Trainer Horatio Luro then changed the colt's jockey to Bill Hartack, who guided him into an amazing 3 year old season. Northern Dancer ran for 1st place in the Flamingo Stakes, Florida Derby, Blue Grass Stakes, Kentucky Derby in record time, the Preakness Stakes, and the Queen's Plate. With all this information in mind, please note that Northern Dancer not only captured the first two legs of the American Triple Crown, but he also captured the first leg of the Canadian Triple Crown.
Northern Dancer was retired at the age of 4, finishing with a record of 14 wins out of 18 starts. Northern Dancer never finished worse than third place in his entire career.
